As VTS is in affiliation with The General Theological Seminary, we want to keep our friends and students apprised of significant news affecting the GTS community. After extensive exploration of a whole range of possibilities, GTS has signed an agreement to lease the Close to Vanderbilt University. It is a lease arrangement , so GTS still owns the land and the buildings. We can deliver our very successful hybrid Master of Divinity out of the Close. We have a year-round presence on the Close, which will continue to be GTS’ home for the next hundred years.
Our affiliation has caused some debate on the campus of VTS, which is right and appropriate. But today, we can pause and acknowledge that this is a good moment for The Episcopal Church. The oldest continually operating seminary in the Anglican Communion continues. GTS is still forming human lives for holy orders, and VTS and the affiliation helped make this happen.
