Professional examinations are not uncommon. The examinations to be a lawyer or a tax accountant are serious. And so, the Episcopal Church has its own process. The General Ordination Examinations are designed as the mechanism to determine whether the postulant has sufficient knowledge of the canonical areas. Three-hour examinations in such topics as Church History, Bible, and Worship are required.
Naturally, this is a stressful time. Our seniors have worked hard to get to this moment. These are difficult exams to prepare for. One just has to hope that the question is fair. And then focus, read quickly, think quickly, and write proficient answers. It is not easy.
Our seniors are trying to do these examinations with COVID and a snow storm in the background. This is hard. Please do pray for our seniors as they handle all this. Remember seniors, breathe and trust. May the Holy Spirit be with you all.
