Presiding Bishop Michael Curry at Commencement

Date: May 13, 2021

Thanks to Leslie Rorabach, the Class of 2021 president, Presiding Bishop Michael Curry is delivering the Commencement address today, in person. It is an exciting moment. After a year when everything has been remote, it is fabulous that the 198th Commencement will be in-person. Everyone will have been tested. Everyone will be physically distanced, outdoors, on the Grove. So it will be safe.

I am grateful that this leaving ritual is able to happen. We have grown to love our seminarians. They have become precious members of our family. We will miss them as they head out to serve in different ministry sessions.

We are hoping the weather will be good. Please enjoy this day. Graduates should obtain a copy of The Washington Post (on page A3); all are listed in the newspaper. Please congratulate our remarkable graduates as they head out into the world to preach the Gospel.

The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President
