Finding space for sustained prayer is really difficult. Most of us just give God a few minutes and often when we are doing something else – driving the car, walking the dog, easing into the morning. But sitting with God in a sustained way and letting God speak to us is something that is hard to do.
The Quiet Day is a gift. The idea is NOT to finish assignments, go shopping with friends, pop into DC. The idea is to find a quiet space, sit with a devotional book, and allow God some space to let us understand what God needs from us and what God wants to do on our lives.
Silence, including over lunch, should be kept from the end of Morning Prayer until the Eucharist in the afternoon. I invite everyone to really live into the gift of silence.
