Reflecting on the Quarterly Reparations Shareholders Meeting

Date: October 27, 2025

Last Wednesday, I joined Ms. Ebonee Davies and the Rev. Dr. Altagracia Pérez-Bullard at the Goodwin Board Room for the quarterly Reparations Shareholders Meeting. As we went around the table and on the Zoom boxes, I heard an extraordinary refrain: “Hello, I am [insert name]; I am a descendant, and I represent the [insert name] family.” It was profoundly moving—an ancestor who labored, a Seminary that sinned, and a descendant speaking for a family.

The heart of the meeting was a presentation by Mr. Mark Farkas. Over the past two years, he has been creating a documentary about the reparations program. He described the project and outlined the plans for its release. He has completed a first draft of a trailer as they begin discussions with potential distributors who might market the documentary to streaming platforms. You can watch the trailer here.

It was a good meeting. Several helpful suggestions were offered, which Mark duly noted. Many attendees then made their way to the Refectory to share lunch together. Thank you, Ebonee and Altagracia, for all your hard work in making these meetings possible.
