It is good to see research seminar groups continuing. These are opportunities for Faculty to share a book project with a small group of colleagues. Typically, they are hosted by the director of research, Dr. John Knight, and the Senior Vice President, Melody Knowles, in their home. These occasions serve several purposes. For the person writing the book, it provides a deadline for the writing of a chapter. For the group, it provides a delightful space for convivial conversation around something other than the routine Faculty conversations about program. For the seminary, it lifts up the importance of research and makes sure that we remain a Faculty with a major publishing profile.
I am grateful to John and Melody who host these gatherings. I am also grateful to all those who make themselves available for a research seminar. It is a delightful aspect of our shared life together. Thank you.
