Setting Busyness Aside

Date: August 30, 2021

Sometimes we need to set busyness aside and take time to go deep. Last week, we in Institutional Advancement did just that by placing a hold on work and gathering for a planning day to discuss what went well this past fiscal year and where we need to focus our attention now. The Dean kicked us off with a bold visionary view, we discussed the draft strategic plan and how our work intersects across departments, and we looked at new priorities. We began a discussion of the book Change by Damon Centola. Amid the deep talks, Wendy Bermudez led us in a creative art project that moved our minds and spirits.

We are still processing our planning day; follow-up notes are being prepared and action plans set using Microsoft Teams. We look forward to reaching out to colleagues across VTS, such as those in Communications, Lifelong Learning, and CACS, to share ideas that require collaborative work. While we must return to the busyness at hand, we do so with a more precise purpose and plan than before.
