We’re beginning a series of commentaries featuring some of the staff who have been serving the Seminary over many years, inviting them to reflect on their time here.
Shelagh Casey Brown is a staff member in the Office of Institutional Advancement, serving as Director of Alumni and Church Relations since the Fall of 2011. After a decade of working at VTS she recalls her most memorable moment, the consecration of Immanuel Chapel. “It was special day, full of significant moments for our community, locally and internationally. A moment in time when everyone on campus helped make an extraordinary event possible.”
One of the things that Shelagh is most proud of was the planning and participation in the first alumni international pilgrimage to the Holy Land. “It was a blessing to see the alums return and experience a life-changing experience together.”
Reflecting over her years, Shelagh believes that what makes Virginia Seminary exceptional is simple: its people. “The VTS alumni are simply amazing, and our staff, faculty, and students, create a remarkable community of faith, and inclusivity, that makes working here a joy.”
The greatest gift that anyone can give this place is the gift of their time. Time is precious. And for the gift of those days given by Shelagh, we are very grateful.
