We have an expectation of at least one act of corporate worship a day at VTS. My practice is to attend the 8.15am Eucharist. Every occasion is a gift – after all, we are worshiping God and gathering together. However, today, I do want to thank in particular the team responsible for the Bilingual Eucharist that took place on Tuesday – the Adoremos team. It was a lovely occasion. Eric Bailey preached a delightful sermon; the Rev. Dr. Altagracia Perez-Bullard presided at the table; the music was exceptional; and the gathering around the altar to receive was a lovely moment.
I am not a spanish speaker. So, for me, it is a reminder of the challenge facing all those who are worshiping in a tongue that is not their own. I finished the service admiring our international students so much more; and for all those Americans who want to worship in their native tongue, it is a reminder that The Episcopal Church still has work to do.
So thank you Adoremos team. Fabulous work.
