Thank you for writing a commentary

Date: August 26, 2024

I love the voices that emerge during the summer when different departments write the commentary. I have learned so much. From the wisdom of alumni, insights from members of the Board of Trustees, to understanding how the library works to plans for facilities, I have enjoyed them all.

These commentaries form part of the archival record of the Seminary. There has been a commentary every day the Seminary is open (so excluding weekends and holidays) since August 1, 2007. One really has the story of an institution. The difficult moments – the chapel fire – to celebratory moments – the historic Bicentenary – are all captured and available to future historians.

So, thank you to the commentary writers. And thank you to the commentary readers. I appreciate that you want to stay in touch with the granular details of the Seminary. This is a gift of interest for which I am deeply grateful.

The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President of Virginia Theological Seminary and the President of The General Theological Seminary
