Thank You to Archbishop Justin Welby

Date: April 29, 2022

I am thankful to have been able to participate virtually in the discussions and services with Archbishop Welby yesterday. On behalf of the Seminary community, I want to express my gratitude to the Archbishop. As I like to say, the greatest gift one can give is that of their time, and the Seminary community was certainly blessed with that.

The Center for Anglican Communion Studies (CACS) has worked tirelessly for over a year to organize the visit. My sincere thanks to Dr. Katherine Grieb, Hartley Wensing, and Courtney Henderson-Adams for all of their hard work. As Dr. Grieb mentioned yesterday there are countless others to thank – Drs. Strout and Burnett for the extraordinary services; Curtis Prather and Elizabeth Panox-Leach in Communications; Reggie Gravina for all of the audio-visual coordination, Facilities, Housekeeping, and the list goes on. Finally, thank you to Dr. Melody Knowles, for graciously stepping in while I have been recuperating.

As Archbishop Welby said during the Mollegen Forum, the faith community is indispensable, and I heartily concur.

The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President
