Date: June 27, 2025
The Alumni Association Executive Committee (AAEC) of VTS plays a vital role in the planning and success of the annual Alumni Convocation, held each October. From the initial brainstorming of keynote speakers to encouraging alumni attendance and offering a warm welcome during the event itself, their support is invaluable and deeply appreciated.
The 2025 Alumni Convocation will take place on Tuesday, October 14, and will feature two distinguished speakers: VTS Professor of Homiletics Dr. Ruthanna Hooke and New York Times columnist David French.
Mr. French will open the day with a morning keynote titled “Faith in an Age of President Trump.” In the afternoon, Dr. Hooke will present “Preaching a Challenging Word in Challenging Times.” Following her address, a faculty panel will reflect on “Preaching the Gospel in These Times.” It promises to be an engaging and meaningful day for all participants, including our seminarians, whose classes will be canceled to allow their attendance.
The Convocation Evensong will be held in the Chapel at 5:15 p.m., with Dean Ian Markham officiating and AAEC President, The Rev. Canon Kathy Walker, preaching. Honorary degrees will also be awarded during the service. A Festive Reception for all will follow.
As is tradition, the Class Reunion Dinner will be held the evening before, on Monday, October 13. This special event celebrates alumni from class years ending in “5” and “0,” and is open to all alumni. It remains a cherished occasion of reunion and recognition of the many decades of ministry represented by VTS alumni.
We look forward to welcoming you in October!
