I found yesterday so moving. It was lovely to talk to alums; the reunion dinner was moving; and the buzz at 1823 after that dinner was energetic and beautiful.
The most moving moment, however, was the dedication of a tree in honor of the Rev. Jennifer R. Durant (class of 2011). She died of ALS just four years after graduating. Tears came to my eyes as I listened to the reflection from the Rev. Tracey Kelly. It was lovely to see family present to hear this moment of recognition of just what an amazing priest Jennifer was. She took her illness into ministry. She served the people of God to the very end.
No one knows precisely how life will unfold. We should never presume that we will be granted “old bones.” So let us take the gift of this day and live it for good, love, and, of course, for God.
