Yesterday I was in the library taking out some books on Howard Thurman. And I had the privilege of meeting the family of Joshua Waits (our archivist). He was showing his family the bicentennial exhibits. I joined him as he talked through the initial two cases. Images, pictures, and text from our past were in the cases. From the history of the Anglican Church in Japan to the consecration of the oil that was used in the coronation by Archbishop Hosam – the Archbishop in Jerusalem – were brought together in one case. The exhibit was beautifully organized. I was very impressed.
Primarily I go to the Library to read books and take books out. But on this occasion, I went and enjoyed a remarkable and compelling exhibit which was very moving. Unfortunately I had to leave before the journey through the cases was over; but I suspect if you ask Joshua nicely (and if he has time), he will happily take you through the remarkable journey captured in these cases.
