The Board is in Zoom Land

Date: February 7, 2022

This week is the week the Board meets. We were hoping to hold meetings in person, but as with so many events right now, Zoom is considered safer. So, today the Buildings and Grounds Committee will meet, followed by the Executive Committee at 7:00 p.m. Then tomorrow afternoon, we have the Board plenary session; and on Wednesday morning, we have the Business Meeting of the Board.

I am very conscious that being in Zoom land still involves considerable work. In fact, in many ways, it is harder. We have to make sure that papers are sent out in advance (we cannot pass something around the table during the meeting). Zoom links need to be set up. The Zoom room needs to be open at least ten minutes in advance of the meeting. It is difficult to always see people on the call; and inevitably, there are problems with audio or the Wi-Fi that create “an unstable connection.”

So, please allow me to express my gratitude to Ms. Taryn Habberley who is overseeing these Board meetings. For her organization and careful attention to detail, I am grateful.

The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President
