Today we have the Business Meeting of the Board. It is the culmination of the visit of the Board to the campus; and it has been a rich and important time together. The highlight was the formal opening of the library, which took place yesterday. Discussions around the nature and needs of our library have been ongoing for many years. It was moving to participate in a moment where the Board’s commitment to a high quality research library reached a culmination. I am grateful to the way in which the Board has always kept the library firmly on the institution’s radar.
This morning we will work through the formal business of the Board. From Reparations to sabbatical reports, there is much for the Board to consider. This is a remarkable group of Board members who generously give of their time, to care for this place. The library is a reminder of just how well this place is governed.
