The Chapel as a Vaccination Center

Date: February 9, 2021

So what is a Chapel for? The primary purpose is a place set aside for the worship of God. Chapels become thin spaces (to use the Celtic expression) where heaven and earth meet. As you walk in, one feels the prayers of the people of God that have been uttered in that space. Chapels are special.

Where normally the focus of a Chapel is on our spiritual health, from time to time we need our Chapel to function as a place for physical health. This is one of those seasons. Neighborhood Health is using our Chapel as a vaccination center on Tuesdays and Fridays. Neighborhood Health specializes in reaching those at risk who lack insurance.

It is an impressive operation. Our guest enters and exits at the west door; our guest is vaccinated in the south transept and sits in the north transept for the required fifteen minutes recovery and “check” time; and then they are free to go. This is holy work. We are doing something good in this time.
