Date: March 8, 2022
Of the many Board actions that took place in February, I am delighted to share the news that the Rev. Rachelle Sam has been elected to the faculty to serve as our associate dean for strategic implementation and priorities. Rachelle is the first appointment to the faculty out of the school chaplaincy world. She has been working at St. Albans School in Washington, DC since September 2013. She has a BA from Rice University in Houston, TX, an M.Div. from Harvard Divinity School, and graduated from our Anglican Studies program in May 2019. We are excited that Rachelle has accepted this position. She will start in July 2022.
With the Board having just approved the new Strategic Plan, Rachelle will be the person progressing the various parts of the plan. In addition, she will working with Mr. Derek Greten-Harrison to focus on the strategic priority of admissions. She will also host a formation group and be a full member of the faculty.
Rachelle brings many gifts to this role. She has exceptional administrative skills, a passion for theological education, and an eagerness to shape the future of Virginia Theological Seminary. We are looking forward to giving Rachelle a warm welcome.
The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
