The Rev. Dr. Jolyon Mitchell joins us at Virginia Theological Seminary for a brief visit. He is accompanied by two special guests, including Jasmine Mitchell, recent winner of The Great British Bake Off, whose creativity and calm under pressure have captured the public imagination. Her artistry in the kitchen beautifully echoes the theological truth that hospitality and shared meals can be sacramental signs of God’s generosity. Having her at VTS reminds us that Christian formation happens as much around tables as it does in lecture halls.
Though this visit is short, it opens the door to what we hope will become a deeper partnership with St John’s College, Durham, grounded in shared commitments to scholarship, ministry, and public engagement. Together, Dr Mitchell and his companions embody a rich blend of theology, creativity, and peacebuilding that resonates with the mission of Virginia Theological Seminary. It is simply lovely to have them here among us, sharing their gifts with our community and hinting at collaborations yet to come.
The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
