Date: June 10, 2026
As we anticipate welcoming students to campus on June 15, there are so many people and programs that make the doctoral residency possible. Faculty teach and mentor students, including full-time faculty and our dedicated doctoral Senior Lecturers. Many offices across VTS contribute to the residency as well. AASL, IA, and the Dean’s Office have all been involved in recruiting students. The library staff provide a welcoming space for study, orient new students, and happily meet individually with students working through difficult research questions. The Finance Department carefully handles student billing, while Meriweather Godsey prepares the delicious food we enjoy. Our doctoral students often marvel at the beauty of the campus, maintained by our maintenance, ground crew, and housekeeping.
We’re so pleased to welcome back Dr. Lyn Loewi as our summer musician this year. Dr. Loewi serves as Associate Organist at Saint John’s Church, Lafayette Square. Her musicianship and her spirit were a gift to our residency the last few years. Her music captures the spirit of our residency! We’re also grateful to Ellen Johnston who assembled wonderful liturgies this year, and to Dr. Marty Wheeler Burnett and Dr. Shawn Strout for their gracious and careful support of chapel services.
Most of all, Jenn Baker our Programs Coordinator has worked tirelessly to make the residency this year a wonderful success. Be sure to thank Jenn and other VTS staff for all they do to make the residency a success!
The Rev. Canon PJ Hobbs, DMin
Acting Director of Doctoral Programs
