Today is the start of a new semester. We will gather in Chapel for the start of the Semester service. Fall semester classes are beginning. There is a freshness to a new start which is exciting. It is like the new page of a journal. It is fresh, clean, and ready to be filled with text that explores the inner life of our minds. It is exciting.
I welcome everyone to this new semester. Naturally, problems and challenges will arise. These are inevitable. The invitation of Seminary is to always learn how to handle those problems and challenges. Reach out for help when needed. Create habits of discipline that assist in the journey of living and life. Find a spiritual director and invite them to bring Christ to those problems and challenges.
Formation is not simply the work of the mind. It is the work of the heart and soul. Let us let God do the work of the formation this year in this place.
