Time to go to the movies

Date: January 23, 2024

This is probably the first time that The Episcopal Church has tried to create a movie that impacts American culture. A Case for Love is in regular movie theaters for one night only – tonight. If we can fill these movie theaters with people, then there is a possibility of the film generating even more interest. Health permitting, I am hoping to be present at Hoffman Center 22 in Alexandria.

We are in a difficult season as a country. We crudely stereotype, caricature, and hate. “They are all x” – and one fills in the blank – “immigrants”, “Trump supporters”, or “Catholics” or “whatever”. Strangely, we tend to look at others and imagine that we alone are the tolerant ones and “they” (again fill in the blank) are the intolerant ones. Both sides point to the other as the problem.

This movie is important. The message is important. Let us take a moment today to pray that this film might succeed.
