Date: February 4, 2025
The February Board meetings for VTS and GTS are held on line. However, even an on-line Board meeting involves considerable work. Papers are prepared; PowerPoints are constructed; the link must be sent out; and of course the meeting needs minutes and appropriate process.
The issue that dominates the plenary today is the shape of the Board. We have bylaws, an affiliation agreement, and two institutions. We had seven long serving (and very effective and thoughtful) Board members step down in May 2025. We will have another nine members of the Board finish their terms in May 2027. So, anticipating these changes is the work of this plenary.
There are many who work hard to make sure the meeting is a success. I am grateful to them all. However, today, I wish to acknowledge the pivotal role of my chief of staff. Ms. Taryn Habberley is organized, efficient, and careful. Behind the scenes, she has done much to make the Board meeting today and tomorrow possible.
