Date: August 1, 2022
This week in the Dean’s Commentary, we’ll be looking at the work of TryTank Experimental Lab — what we have been up to with regard to our strategic priorities and what’s around the corner.
First, I want to begin with a personal change. As of July 1, 2022, I was appointed to the position of Chief Innovation Officer for VTS. As Dean Markham put it in his announcement: “We are inviting Lorenzo to supplement his work by applying his insights to the mission of VTS as we explore our relationship with General Theological Seminary.”
Now that the affiliation is coming closer to reality, I am excited to see what innovations we may develop that might benefit the greater church. To that end, I will be stepping away for a few months from the day-to-day operation of TryTank to delve deeply into the possibilities (perhaps not yet imagined) of the affiliation.
Beyond my work with GTS, the new role is meant to allow me to work with other departments at VTS that want to explore how innovation might help us in the faithful work to which we have been called. I offer this as an invitation: If your department wants to chat, just let me know. I’m here to help.
