Today two search committees gather. At 9am, we have the search committee for a new professor of ethics. At 4.30pm, the search committee meets for a new professor of history. It is serious work. We need to find a person who supports the mission of VTS, has expertise in the field, and can contribute effectively to residential theological education.
The process is simple: we finalize the position description; we share it with the Board; we work hard to create a strong field of applicants; we do the long list interviews; and then we have the finalists come to the campus. At each stage, we seek to support the process in prayer. We want a person who can help The Episcopal Church survive and thrive.
I am grateful to Senior Vice President Knowles who takes the lead on searches. She is dedicated, careful, and thoughtful. She loves the Faculty and believes in the Faculty. She wants her Faculty colleagues to grow, develop, and flourish. It is her passion; it is her vocation. Thank you Melody as you do the hard work of finding two new colleagues to join us.
