VTS Press and Christopher Poore

Date: August 22, 2025

VTS Press has experienced a remarkable transformation. Before the arrival of the Rev. Christopher Poore, its publications reflected the best efforts of dedicated amateur colleagues at Virginia Theological Seminary. Their work was important and heartfelt, though uneven—some books carried real substance, while others showed the limits of resources and experience. That season laid a foundation, but the press was still finding its voice.

With Christopher’s leadership, VTS Press entered a new era of professionalism and excellence. The quality of both content and production is now outstanding. Samuel Van Culin’s memoir Crossing Anglican Horizons is deeply insightful, Non Vaughan-O’Hagan’s play Dust is engaging history and artistically rich, and Oran Warder’s Rebuilding Zion is a remarkable journey into the life of William Holland Wilmer. These are works of lasting merit, fully realized in form and substance.

VTS Press has arrived. Its transformation reflects Christopher Poore’s commitment, editorial skill, and vision for a flourishing publishing ministry. The Seminary is proud of this achievement and deeply grateful to Christopher for the professionalism he has brought to the work.

The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, PhD.
