Ten years ago this week I began my role as the Director of Alumni and Church Relations. I felt then and continue to feel that it is a privilege to work with the remarkable group of individuals who are the VTS alumni. Over 3,300 strong, they are the heart and soul of the Seminary. They serve throughout the U.S. and in 50 countries around the world. Their impact on the Church and in their communities is immense. They embody the iconic VTS motto — Go Ye Into the World and Preach the Gospel — through their ministries in churches, dioceses, schools, hospitals and hundreds of other organizations.
As new students enter each August, I can’t help wondering where their journeys will take them, with their first call after Seminary and in the years following. Helping graduating students with placement activities provides a window into this process of discernment that I look forward to each year.
It is a joy to stay connected with our alumni through the years, and to work with the volunteer alumni leaders and the fantastic team in Institutional Advancement who all support the work we do with our alumni. Whether on campus, at Convocation, or other programs and events, or visiting them in their places of ministry, it is a blessing to be able to see the work and ministry of our alumni, and to support them in their ministries.
