Date: November 17, 2025
The Rev. Dr. Samuel Wells, one of today’s most influential public theologians, will be visiting Virginia Theological Seminary for the first time November 18-19, 2025.
Lifelong Learning is offering two events during which VTS students and faculty can interact with and learn from Wells as he reflects on his new book, Constructing an Incarnational Theology: A Christocentric View of God’s Purpose.
This latest book of Sam’s explores a radical question: What if Jesus came not primarily to fix our brokenness, but to fulfill God’s eternal desire to be with us? Drawing from the Trinity itself and in dialogue with theological giants, Wells offers a transformative vision where God’s means and God’s ends are one—a theology centered not on human deficit, but on divine abundance.
Sam Wells writes, speaks, preaches and broadcasts on a range of pastoral, political and theological issues. Sam has been Vicar of St Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square, London, since 2012. He is also Visiting Professor of Christian Ethics at King’s College London. He has served as a parish priest for 27 years – 10 of those in urban priority areas; he also spent 7 years in North Carolina, where he was Dean of Duke University Chapel. He has published 50 books. Do not miss this opportunity to get to know him!
