Today is the start of our annual convocation, and we welcome class stewards to the campus. The class stewards are persons who represent each of their classes to the seminary, working closely with Shelagh Casey Brown. They will learn about what’s happening in the seminary and commit afresh to supporting the seminary with their prayers, interest, and gifts.
Tonight we will have the class reunion reception and dinner. This is when we focus on those who are marking either a 6 or 1. It is always a special occasion where many of our alums of yesteryear return home to enjoy the occasion and to enjoy the ever-changing campus.
I often say, “Once you’re part of VTS, you’re always part of VTS.” Today, that’s especially true. Welcome home, everybody.
The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President of Virginia Theological Seminary and the President of The General Theological Seminary.
