Welcome to the Godly Play Foundation

Date: October 7, 2026

Fall is a season of cooler temperatures, warm tea, and American football. Also, as Seminary Hill begins its search for changing tree colors, we welcome many different visitors to worship, learn, and discover new ways to serve the wider church and the world. This week, along with our wonderful bishops from across the Anglican Communion, we welcome the Godly Play Foundation and many different Godly Play trainers from across the United States of America.

Godly Play, founded by The Rev. Dr. Jerome Berryman, equips adults and organizations to center and nurture children as we engage the big questions of life and the mystery of God together. The non-profit does this through the Godly Play College of Training, which offers training for those utilizing Godly Play resources and lessons in their community. Some of you may have visited the Godly Play Resources website for your respective communities or perhaps have attending a training here on campus sponsored by us here in Lifelong Learning. Lastly, I would love to encourage you to visit the Center for the Theology of Childhood, which conducts and encourages research to inform the nurture of children in the local church. This week, along with our grand opening of the Berryman Special Collection (stay tuned for tomorrow’s commentary) that’s happening this evening, are further evidence of a lovely partnership between two institutions.

As you dine in the Refectory, watch a story being told in the Godly Play room, and share your Hymnal during worship, please welcome our colleagues, partners, and friends in ministry from the Godly Play Foundation to campus.
