The Rev. Janiece Williams joins the Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS) this academic year as a visiting professor, bringing her expertise in homiletics to the classroom. Her academic journey has taken her to Vanderbilt University, where she is currently ABD (All But Dissertation), indicating the depth of her scholarly engagement in homiletics. Rev. Williams’ commitment to teaching and preaching is enriched by her grounding as an ordained minister within the Baptist Church, offering students a dynamic blend of academic rigor and pastoral experience. She has served as the Homiletician in Residence at the historic Metropolitan Baptist Church in Largo, Maryland under the leadership of Rev. Dr. George Lewis Parks, Jr.Â
Rev. Williams comes from a lively family with five siblings, a detail that resonates personally with me, who shares a similar familial background. She loves the DMV area and is looking forward to getting to know the area well.
Anticipating a rich academic year, Rev. Williams is eager to get to know the faculty, staff, and students at VTS. She looks forward to participating fully in the Seminary’s vibrant community, sharing insights from her tradition, and discovering new perspectives from colleagues and students alike. Her arrival heralds a season of learning, growth, and deeper dialogue, and the Seminary community is excited to welcome her and learn from her gifts.
