Date: November 10, 2022
I am pleased to welcome The Very Rev. Kelvin Holdsworth whom you may have seen already on campus. Kelvin is a Provost and senior priest in the Scottish Episcopal Church and is here at VTS as part of his 2-month sabbatical. Kelvin has done some outstanding work in ministry. One of which was being a prominent voice in Scotland arguing for the possibility to marry same-sex couples. He did so in 2017 as the first Anglican priest licensed outside North America. Kelvin is involved in campaigns and dialogue such as gender recognition, marriage equality, and interfaith unity. He keeps a blog at www.thurible.net and writes for other media outlets as well as being a regular broadcaster on the BBC.
Kelvin comes to VTS from New York where he recently spent a month at General Theological Seminary. He will be spending his sabbatical time reading some gay and black theology, writing micro – twitter length – biographies of the saints in the Scottish calendar and in relaxing and enjoying the cultural offerings that the DC area offers, by way of recovery from the effects of ministering through the pandemic.
A very warm welcome to The Very. Rev. Kelvin Holdsworth. It is an honor to have him with us.
The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President
