Welcome to Fall Visit Day at VTS

Date: November 7, 2025

It is a joy to welcome some forty-five guests to campus for our Fall Visit Day. These are people in discernment, seeking to determine the next best step in their lives. Each guest arrives with questions, concerns, and hopes. I ask everyone in our community to offer a warm welcome and to be ready to answer their questions with care and honesty.

I will be praying for our prospective students. This work of discernment must be done with great attention and prayer. There are many factors to consider: What is best for my family? Where exactly would I live? Is this the right time? Is this a place I can call home? And most importantly: Is this where God is calling me to be?

To those who are visiting, please allow me to welcome you to Virginia Theological Seminary. You are stepping onto the Holy Hill, where countless people have been formed by the Holy Spirit into instruments of Christ’s love for the world. We are delighted you are here. May you find your visit both meaningful and joyful.

The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President of Virginia Theological Seminary and the President of The General Theological Seminary.
