What Makes a Social Media Post Great?

Date: August 9, 2024

Social media is an excellent platform for reaching a large audience. High-quality content is essential when posting on social media platforms, as content quality can make or break a post. Poor content can cause a post with valuable information to be overlooked and skipped. Examples of poor content include blurry, dark images with bad lighting, as well as poor grammar and punctuation. Quality content helps to drive traffic and increase awareness of your posts. The quality of your posts also demonstrates how seriously you take your brand. Posting poor content may seem insignificant, but it can have a big impact, enabling competitors with more engaging content to gain an advantage over you.

One of the best ways to create an impactful social media post is by identifying and understanding your audience. This process includes learning about their demographics, age, social status, and more. From my short time at Virginia Theological Seminary, I’ve learned that you must tailor your content to what the audience wants and when they want it. I’ve discovered what works best for the direct timeline and what should be reserved for stories. That’s another key lesson: timeline quality versus story quality. Engagement is a must for social media. You want to engage with your audience and respond to their comments. The more you interact with your audience, the more they will engage with you. It is my prayer that every social media account that I am part of grows and glows! Until next time – post away (good content ONLY!)
