Date: September 12, 2025
Each year, our community comes together around Virginia Theological Seminary’s Giving Day. This is more than just a moment to raise support; it is an opportunity to remember that we are bound together by faith, gratitude, and the stories of those who have shaped us.
Our theme this year is “Who Inspired You?” It is a simple but profound question. Every one of us can point to a person whose example, faith, or encouragement drew us closer to God. Perhaps it was a parent who brought you to church, a priest who opened Scripture in new ways, or a mentor who believed in you at just the right moment. These stories matter, and they remind us that the Christian journey is never traveled alone.
On September 18, we will hear from our students about who inspired them. I hope you will follow along on Instagram and Facebook, and that you will also honor someone who inspired you by:
- tagging them social media using the hashtag #VTSGivingDay2025
- emailing [email protected] to let us know who they are
- making a gift in their honor or memory.
These testimonies strengthen our common life and encourage the next generation of leaders preparing to serve the Church.
Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, every dollar you give will be matched—doubling the impact of your support. Your gift not only strengthens the Seminary but also helps ensure that our students are well prepared to preach the Gospel and minister to God’s people in need.
Thank you for your prayers, your partnership, and your witness. Together, we are building a faithful future for the Church.
The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President of Virginia Theological Seminary and President of The General Theological Seminary
