When part of the Body of Christ suffers, we all suffer. The Seminary has deep connections with the South, including the state of Texas – connections of history with Presiding Bishop John Hines (our alumnus and founder of Seminary of the Southwest) and connections of current service (with countless alumni and alumnae graduates and friends). We watch with prayerful concern as the state is covered in below-freezing weather conditions and as electricity blackouts put lives at risk; and we offer this moment to God. We ask for all those in our community – both here in Alexandria and our friends around the country and the world – to pray for all those who are enduring this difficult moment in the South. May they be given resources to cope and that a way might be found to support those who are suffering at this time.
