Who we are
This website is run by the Protestant Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia, informally known as Virginia Theological Seminary. Since 1823, we have furthered the universal mission of Christ’s church by providing graduate theological education and serving as a theological resource for the Episcopal Church, the Anglican Communion, and the wider Church.
The personal data we collect and why we collect it
Contact forms
We may collect your information using forms via third party services like Blackbaud, Alchemer and MailChimp, but we don’t sell it. We keep it to follow-up to your inquiries, sign you up to receive e-newsletters, and to process your donations.
Newsletter
We use MailChimp to create our e-newsletter campaigns via audience. Your email is saved when you sign-up to receive our newsletters. You will opt in to receive our weekly/monthly e-newsletters delivered to your email. MailChimp will collect information on your open rate, place, and other data involving receiving the newsletters.
Embedded content from other websites
Pages and posts on this site may include embedded content from unaffiliated websites (like video, images, articles, etc.). That embedded content behaves as if the visitor has visited the unaffiliated website.

We will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. It will be shared as necessary with the following parties so that we can fulfill your requests: Alchemer, MailChimp, and Blackbaud.
What rights you have over your data
If you provided information to us to fulfill requests, sign up for e-newsletters, or process donations, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
If you sign-up for our e-newsletters, your information added to our database, powered by Blackbaud, and then it is brought over to MailChimp, our email creation system. If you make a gift, your information is sent to our database, powered by Blackbaud.
